Privacy Policy
This policy has not yet had a formal legal review. It accurately describes what the site actually does today, in plain language, but if you have specific legal questions about your data, contact us directly rather than relying on this page alone.
What this covers
This policy covers thedalitproject.org and any newsletter or contact form on it. The Dalit Project is registered and operates from Australia.
What we collect today
As of this writing, the site runs no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no tracking cookies. We don't know how many people read a given piece, where they came from, or who they are, beyond what a web server inherently logs to keep the site running (see below).
If you email us — a pitch, a correction, a general inquiry — we keep that email and whatever you send with it, for as long as it's useful to the conversation or our records, and we don't share it with anyone outside The Dalit Project.
The newsletter signup shown on the site is not yet connected to a mailing service. Once it is, we will collect only the email address you provide, use it only to send the newsletter you signed up for, never sell or share it with a third party, and this page will be updated to name the mailing service we use before that feature goes live.
Server logs
Like effectively any website, our hosting infrastructure keeps basic technical logs (IP address, browser type, page requested, timestamp) for security and operational purposes. We don't separately process these for tracking or marketing.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent reader data to anyone, ever.
- We don't run third-party advertising on the site.
- We don't share source, contributor, or reader identities with any funder.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to delete it — emailhello@dalitproject.org. Given what's described above, in most cases that will simply be an email address and any correspondence you've sent us.
Children's privacy
The Dalit Project is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect or how we use it changes — most likely once the newsletter is actually wired up — we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
